Source Beatz originated in the first quarter of 2008 by artist and producer Zach ‘Major Freq’ Dunn. He then influenced local mixtape DJ and soon to be producer, Ash 'DJ 80' Thomas to follow in his trend. After the first 5 days of collaborative producing, their instrumentals reached out to Diplomat's very own Tom Gist and many artists in the USA.
To begin with, Ash & Zach were rivals at their local school. Trying to get one up on each other by writing disses and battling in school. But after a while, they decided to settle their differences and support each other’s music. Ash decided to quit rapping and stumbled across "virtual dj" this, and the fact that Zach had already made a few blends, encouraged Ash to become a DJ. After a few weeks of blending, artists such as Tom Gist and DJ Drama noticed DJ 80's skill and potential, and he even received a shout out from Soulja and DJ Icepick (Unsigned artist and residents of the USA.)
Zach, who had already been producing for quite a while, was already doing quite well for himself, and already known for his music in over 4 different countries decided to step DJ 80's music up a notch, by showing him the program "FL Studio". After playing around with the sounds, Ash was motivated into becoming a producer. DJ 80 & Major Freq's' First Ever Collaboration was when they created a remix of the hit "4 minutes" by Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. This is when Zach realised their potential, as with DJ 80's melodies and synths, mixed with Major Freq's drum patterns, they could become so much more. And from that day on, they were both known as: Source Beatz.
For the oncoming future, they both plan to create music never heard before from the UK, producing and representing Aim2Break at their greatest. So make sure you check in for albums, mixtapes, movies etc as Source Beatz most probably produced the soundtrack to it!
