Akande Davis was born February 22nd 1991 in Garmisch Germany. He now lives in Sierra Vista Arizona. Though Akande Davis was raised in a military environment, the music he listened to revolved around jazz and r&b. Time went on and early in his life music became a lifestyle. In his early years of middle school he began writing poetry. His rhymes and wordplay generated some attention amongst teachers and the student body. A few years later, Akande decided to take his poetry to the next level.
Not content with just the pen and paper, he urged his parents to get him a twenty dollar Radio Shack microphone. All was needed at that time was a computer, an idea, and a couple of double a batteries. He and his friends often collaborated on ideas, songs, topics, and titles to give themselves. Of course they started as amateurs, but they grew; a small bit of ambition catching the attention of many. Flickering about his hopes Akande decided to take it a bit more seriously.
In late 2004, he officially dubbed himself "Kande" dropping the first letter in his name, make the pronunciation, appearance, and essence of the name all a bit sweeter. Rolling his pen and momentum, he began to get noted here and there for his hobby. Though still an amateur, he worked vigorously to perfect and tweak his songs, critiquing his own material harshly. Still being in Germany, Kande had no outlet for his talents though. There were no clubs or events hosted very often at which he could perform or gain experience.
Having no other outlets, Kande began rapping against other teenagers at his high school, and other emcees on the internet. Paper soon became a canvas for Kande’s words to flow and for his ingenuity to pulsate. As he elevated, his songs and skills progressed.
Kande has been on many mix tape and album projects. Many of these range from Canada to New York. He is featured on one of the many Hood Banger series mix tapes released by an infamous DJ in eastern Canada. He has also done collaborations with Street sweeper legend Hoss, and gotten shout outs from the rather well known, Dj Itz A Wrap.
Moving back to the United States has opened many more doors and revealed many more opportunities for Akande Davis. Backed by his parents, friends and family, he still strives to become better and more efficient. For only being 15 years of age, Kande has put forth more effort than most. Music has no longer become a hobby, a profession, or entertainment. It has become a driving force. A force that pushes him to be as amazing as he can be. Kande even states himself, and I quote, "You don’t need a Cd player; or headphones even. All you need is an idea, a pencil, and a pencil sharpener. If I break, I’ll always have a second chance."
