Azhar Ahmed, also known as Dash or Young Flusha, was born January 5,
1989 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He lived in a flat with his extended family
until the age of 7. In 1996, he landed in Northern Virginia with his
parents, his older sister, and his younger brother.
His early rap influences were Eminem, Nelly, and the Diplomat crew. Nelly's
influence was short-lived. The first rap CD that he ever bought was
the Marshall Mathers LP. He began writing down amateur verses at the
age of 12, but his passion for writing music really skyrocketed after
the release of 8 Mile in 2002. He started battling other rappers on
rapdogs.com, where he won more than 80% of his battles. He introduced
his friend Jimmy to rapping and rapdogs.com soon after.
After leaving the internet battle scene and losing touch with Jimmy, Azhar began
recording his battle verses over beats. He recorded a 29 song mixtape
for his friends in 2007. A word document filled with his bars recently
passed the 125-page mark. At about the same time, he and Jimmy (Chim)
got back into writing lyrics and recorded together for the first time.
His favourite rappers are A-Team, AC, Cassidy, Flashy, Royce Da 5'9,
Lil Wayne, Cyssero, Freck Billionaire, 40 Cal, A-Mafia, Obie Trice,
Papoose, Spider Loc, Styles P, Magno, Talib Kweli, Grafh, Crooked I,
Murda Mook, Bezel, Big Pun, and J.R. Writer. He also listens to Linkin
Park and Fort Minor. He was a varsity basketball player and track
athlete in high school. He currently attends the University of
Virginia full-time, where he plays for their club basketball team.
