Chim grew up in Chantilly, Va. but it wasn't until he moved to Sterling, VA that he started rapping. Originally he thought that rap was a type of music that was a continuous invention of new words and saying syllables as fast as one could, but he learned from his friend "Dash" that there was more to a song then just the hook. At the age of 13 Chim began writing lyrics to popular songs just for fun, and then was approached by Dash about a website called "Rapdogs.com" where online rap battling was popular and it was a lot of fun to do. So Chim proceeded to the website and low and behold he stayed active on the site for 4 years learning, sharing, and progressing in his music.
While attending college at VCU, Chim took it to the streets when it came to rap battling, he would go out on the weekends and battle anyone who was willing. Rapping mainly in ciphers with friends after parties, Chim was able to hone his freestyling skills and thus translated into his ability to make good music on the microphone.
Chim's musical influences include Eminem, Tupac, Nas, Fabolous, and Talib Kweli.
